SERIF

Serif fonts are denoted by small "feet" at the ends of the individual characters limbs. 

Sans serif font example

SANS SERIF

Sans Serif fonts lack the feet at the end of the individual characters limbs. Sans Serif fonts are typically more blocky in nature.

Script font example

SCRIPT

Script fonts typically appear with joined letters, and often look as if they are handwritten or calligraphic in nature.
